Matthew, Chapter 20,
The Parable of Workers in the Vineyard, verse 1-16
In this section, I want explain the parable that
are in the Bible which is explained by Prophet Muhammad S.A.W saying in
Sahih Bukhari.
In The Bible, Matthew, Chapter 20, Parable of the workers in the vineyards, wherein stated that for the kingdom of the heaven is like a landowner who went early in morning to hire some workers for his vineyard (to execute the Will of God [Allah S.W.T] on earth). In the Bible it is just mentioned that there few batches of workers hired from early in the morning till evening.
When the landowner payed, each group one denarius, the first batches of workers argue why the amount of pay is equivalent with the last batches of workers(verse 10-12). The landowner of the vineyard answered their question as stated below.
13"But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius?
14Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you.
15Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
16"So the last will be first, and the first will be last."
In Sahih Bukhari, Prophet Muhamad S.A.W said the first workers hired by God (Allah S.W.T) was the Jews, the second batch of workers was the Christian and the last one hired was the muslim. The muslims was rewarded with two qiraat, whereas the Jews and Christian got one qiraat.
The Jews and Christians gots angry and questions why the muslims payed more. The answer by God (Allah S.W.T) stated below will be almost the as same as the answer mentioned by landowner above. I hope you get the point.
(Allah) said, 'Have I with-held part of your right?' They replied in the negative. He said, 'It is My Blessing, I bestow upon whomever I wish .'

20 "For
the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the
morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
2He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard. 3"About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5So they went. "He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’ 7" ‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. "He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’ 8"When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his supervisor, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’ 9"The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. 12‘These men who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’ 13"But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’ 16"So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet said, "Your example and the example of the people of the two Scriptures (i.e. Jews and Christians) is like the example of a man who employed some laborers and asked them, 'Who will work for me from morning till midday for one Qirat?' The Jews accepted and carried out the work. He then asked, Who will work for me from midday up to the 'Asr prayer for one Qirat?' The Christians accepted and fulfilled the work. He then said, 'Who will work for me from the 'Asr till sunset for two Qirats?' You, Muslims have accepted the offer. The Jews and the Christians got angry and said, 'Why should we work more and get lesser wages?' (Allah) said, 'Have I with-held part of your right?' They replied in the negative. He said, 'It is My Blessing, I bestow upon whomever I wish .' |
